Well it was 31 degrees this morning and I was covered up in deer this morning 22 total 5 bucks & 17 does. They were chasing hard this morning deer coming from every direction, I had to yell 3 times loud to get this guy to stop for a shot. He's a main frame 10 but he has 3 kickers = 13 pointer, 2 kickers that are very symmetric off the back of both his main beams and then the left hand side on his G-2 has another kicker on it.
I was shooting Browning BBR 25-06 with Honady SST 117 grain bullets. I shot him in the left font shoulder to break him down from 55 yards away. He still ran 80 + yards with a jelly front shoulder with absolutely zero blood trail. The bullet never exited the other side. I'm not sold on these SST ballistic tips.

I also have a BBR in 25-06. Don’t see them much anymore. No other gun maker adopted the sling studs they put on the BBR. Mine is a first year of issue.

Very nice buck. I am traveling East from Denver to N.C. today. Was in Central MO about sundown. Saw lots of feeding deer in fields.

Great deer!
I’m with ya on the SST’s. They may be fine out West where you can watch a deer fall, but down here in the thick brush they absolutely suck for a blood trail. The only good news is a deer generally won’t make it more than 75-100 yards. Just keep doing half circles until you stumble across it. I went back to the old faithful...core-lokts. Golf ball entry with a softball exit...easy blood trail if they move at all, lol.

Awesome deer BigBuck! Heavy horned, lots of character. I had a similar experience with the Hornady SST out of my .308 last year. Shot a buck 210 yards , no exit, no blood. He went less than 100 yards piled up. I switched to a hand loaded Berger this year, shoots good on paper, hopefully I’ll have a report in few weeks!

Congrats
