So, "huckleberry" is another word for "blueberry"...? Yes, they are all members of the genus Vaccinium. Even domesticated blueberries were just wild species of Vaccinium 125 years ago. Common names abound for wild members of the genus. In Oregon we have over eight species of wild Vaccinium that are called huckleberries. My favorite is V. membranaceum, the mountain huckleberry pictured in beartooth's photo. Other common names include 'whortleberry', 'bilberry', etc etc.
