Nice thread-the coyotes are nice-the lynx are gorgeous cats-man they are cool.I hear ya on the fishers-neatest animal in the woods.Love catching them but I just cannot set a bunch of fisher sets out( like yourself ) to catch them for $25-keeping them from yourself is best.

Coyote baits have went kind of dead for us. Only a couple coyotes and a couple fox and a lynx near the baits the last week at baits. This always seems to happen in January for us. We’d move more to trail sets if not for so much deer sign too. Took some more bait out anyways today, set a few random trail crossing sets off the skidoo and set another lynx snare pen.

Also had a little snoop nearby checking a lynx snare pen and a 330 lynx cubby I built about a week ago. I just had a goose wing inside the cubby and today found another fisher. I’m not targeting them but I think they’re real neat so I don’t hate catching them but I’ll pull my last conibear from that area next trip so I don’t get another. I may abstain from resetting 330 for fear of another.

Still picking up some coyotes, I think there are 19 in the fur shed, but that counts a couple my kids called in and shot. That’s down from last year at this time by about a dozen. Picked up a small one today but I think the season is suddenly being interrupted by whitetail shed searching as we picked up ten this weekend. [Linked Image]

Haven’t updated my thread as we took a little hiatus to catch up on putting up fur and to pull all sets not targeting coyotes. We don’t want any more lynx or fisher. Deep snow conditions hinder our ability to access prime locations but we got lucky and a friend had a dozer in to do do some work on his land. That opened up travel for us and the coyotes.

Threw out a dead deer and a pig last week in a different area on his property and they were long gone today and the dozer road is littered with sign. Threw out another pig and set a bunch of snares. It’s cold today , about -40 F.

That’s crazy on pigs in different parts of the Country. Coyotes won’t go near a pig down here, but will pick a deer clean before you can track it.

My son snagged a couple last night. Today we snagged 5, left one behind bc it was mangy. While we checked snares, my younger son picked whitetail sheds. Despite the cold, this day has been on fire. [Linked Image]
