Nice catches sask. Hope you get a nice payday. I snared a coyote here last day trapping the other day. It must be 10 years since one showed up.They are as scarce as coon here.

Great thread, thanks for sharing. Amazing scenery and weather conditions! I’ve never snared before, not allowed in my state, the “power snare” looks stout! Does it work like a conibear and close the snare faster? Helpful in the tough conditions you trap in? I think we can use a snare in water for beavers but not on land. We have so many deer it would probably be tough any how. That shed covered by the snow was cool also! Again, thanks for sharing!

I don’t know what your laws are in Alabama, but I think it’s absolute BS that we have to use power snares here. Complete money grab to support the sales of power snares. Not even a Canadian product anymore. Time for change!

Threw out a dead deer and a pig last week in a different area on his property and they were long gone today and the dozer road is littered with sign. Threw out another pig and set a bunch of snares. It’s cold today , about -40 F. At -40 doesn't matter if u put F or C it's still blue bitchin cold !!!!! -40

Not even a Canadian product anymore. Time for change! JP, I personally love the power snares. Even if we didn’t have to use them we would. We find the amount of places we can set them is much higher than free hangers would be and snare set time is almost nil. We also love that most of the time there is no catch circle. We view images out of Alberta where guys use free hangers and the coyote catch circle looks like a bulldozer leaking blood was through the area. Different strokes for different folks I guess. The cost of them was a deterrent in the beginning but we just View another dozen now as a couple coyote furs. Coonman, thanks for the nice comments. The power snare does put pressure on the snare. It uses a big spring to do so. Many of our catches show no sign of a struggle.

Rvsask, they definitely have there pro’s and con’s. I rarely ever have the bulldozer leaking blood scene at my locations. I guess it can happen with any set and also depends more on the trapper and weather.
Glad it works for you though! Just not my cup of tea.
