Here is the last of our 2020 crop of tomatoes. Picked them green in mid October. BLT's with "fresh" mater's tonight!

IMHO one of the best things about summer is fresh maters.

How did you store the green tomatoes to get nice and red?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Pick them green and leave them in the cellar in a cardboard box. Most will turn red no problem.DONT put them in a plastic bag.

We pulled the plants whole before the frost and hung them in the basement with a bailer twine upside down. They did well other than not stretching the ripening out. We trimmed the plant of most it excess branches. We have done them in beer boxes too.

Pretty much what we did. The most important thing is to not pull the stem out of the tomato. All of the tomatoes we picked where the stem pulled out were rotten in a couple of weeks.
