Very nice. Young man if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

Tell us the story. Hunting with Dad or Grandpap?

I agree with what's been said above, you'll remember that hunt forever.

I'm 15. I was hunting over at a farm I work for. Neither my dad nor my grandpa hunt. But anyway I was sitting out on the edge of a hay feild with a little bit of woods behind me looking down into it and about 120yrds or so was a small wooded patch. Well this deer comes slinking out of there and started grazing, by now its about 4:15 ish or so and hunting hours will be over soon as you can't hunt past 4:40pm. So I got up real slow like and rested my gun on a old haybale that I was hiding behind and aimed at what I thought to be a doe (i couldn't see his little antlers from where I was and didn't have a scope on the gun) I took my shot fairly confident i was gonna miss but then I seen him do a little half flip and take off into the woods he was by. Well right when I shot him I got a text from my boss saying "stay for a bit I seen some deer head in your direction" he was hunting a ways west of me. So before I replied I figureded I'd go see if i shot this deer or not. I spend the whole walk down to where I shot him trying to talk myself out of getting to excited about it because I was afraid I missed. Well I got down there and couldn't find any blood but decided to look around a bit and sure enough there laid my deer with his 3 little points. So I walked over to where my boss was hunting and I must have been smiling or something cuz he knew right away. So then he showed me how to gut it and the rest is history. The deer he had seen had been two little does. (actual does)

Congratulations again and thanks for telling us the story. The 30-30 is a good gun, with a scope it'd increase confidence in your shots.

Back 40 years ago when I was your age I saved up all of the money I made doing farm work and bought my first rifle. One of the best investments that I've ever made. Way too many memories made with the little gun, money couldn't buy it today.

Be careful out there, I'm glad to see young folks out in the woods continuing the tradition.

Good shot and great story. You will remember that deer for as long as you live.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
