Or are you saying the Asian folk have pillaged it all down there? Because I took that chaga from a very small area on my line. I drive by all kinds. No one here even seems to know or care about it.

Gosh, we have a lot of chaga around here. I just cut some for personal use on Sunday. I have several nice chunks just waiting to be harvested. I will cut it in January or February. I'd trade chaga for interesting items if anyone is interested.

I don't want to paint everyone with the same brush but let's just say, being 2 hours north of Toronto, there's certain ethnic groups that travel here certain times of the year searching for naturally growing organic substances and they believe all rural property is public even after they've been told otherwise, sometimes repeatedly. Wild leeks, fiddleheads and chaga, all good examples.

Not to hijack coal miners thread, but what are you alls preferred processing methods and uses of your chaga? I have a small box sitting in the garage I've been meaning to put to use but just keep putting it off! Happy trapping! ScottW

I break mine into sugar cube size chunks/pieces. I simmer in a Nesco at about 175 degrees for 12 hours or so. Apparently, you don't want it to boil.

It looks like dark coffee when I take it out. I refrigerate and put a splash in each cup of coffee I drink. I probably drink 8 ounces or so, per day.

Coffee tastes weird without it.
