I am looking for the name of an old movie. I know no actors in it. I have Googled everything I can think of but come up with nothin. Its about an old woman after the civil war. At one time they were wealthy but after the war things really went downhill. Her husband was killed and she got a letter from Lincoln commending him for his service. She always talked of her husband as tho he would be home soon. Her old hens were to old to lay and the girl helping would bring eggs from home or some place and put them in the nest and the old woman would think her old hens laid them. All went well til the old womans nephew and niece was going to declare her incompetent so they could take the farm. They ended up in court and the old woman takes her pet skunk to court in her big ruffled dress. The skunk comes out and people scare her and she sprays the court room. They end up having court out in the yard. The young girl that would help her ended up marrying another star in the show and the court gives them the custody of the old womans affairs. In the end all the towns people that had taken advantage of the woman gives back to her and she again can financially survive. I think the main thing that showed her sanity was when she quoted Lincolns' letter word for word.

I'd like to see that again but can't remember the name of it. Thanks

I don't know the name of the movie, but I'd like to see it too. Sounds like my kind of movie. Hopefully, someone on here will know the name of it.

IMDb could be of use here , do a search on their site with whatever pieces of info you have , it will bring up relevant movie lists , you might find it.

Sounds like a good flic.

Yep, The Lady From Texas is it. My wife and I have been beating our heads on the wall trying to think of it. I saw it twice and she seen it once. I got on Ebay and almost bought a lobby card thinking it was a DVD. They only have an actual film for $99. A bit more than I'm willing to pay, lol. But now that Ebay knows I'm looking there may be some show up.

Thanks for the help putting a name on it.

Thanks Garry, I got the DVD coming for $10 and $9 shipping from them. We been seeing a lot of things happening lately that reminded me of that movie. Now we can watch it as many times as we want, thanks again.
