Talking with a local today, and he said he uses drano to remove old wax from his traps. One one of my previous posts, I asked how to remove rust and vinegar was the top pick. (I know not to mix them). Should I do one and then the other? Or just one? What are your thoughts.

Remove the wax and then the rust. If it’s even necessary. I usually just boil traps and that gets most of the old wax off and then I re wax. The rust doesn’t bother me one bit, all my traps have a coat of rust. If there’s a real rusty spot on a trap I hit it with a wire brush but I don’t have to do that on my users, just ones I pick up used.

One or the other, no need to do both.
