Happened to a deer hunter here in Maine.Lucky for him he was not in his deer stand during the thunder storm.You can see where the lightning split the tree down to where the stand is then followed the metal of the tree stand down to the ground.

Looks like the square tubing has some discolor where it meets the strike.

Wow. Had lightning hit a tree about 100 yards away from me while turkey hunting. Gave me a new respect for thunderstorms.
