Cool weather brings out the bulk recipe dishes for me. I love being able to cook up a big old pot full of vittles on Sunday, then eating it til Thursday!

The All Purpose Boy brought the Bride and I a Thanksgiving care package Turkey Day afternoon when his in-laws had left to go back home downstate. It had the usual fixings like mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, yams-n-marshmallows, etc. But it also included the carcass of the decent sized turkey his women had roasted. They'd stripped about 90% of the breast meat off it, but it had most of the rest of meat, plus all that great stock was left in the bottom of the throw-away roaster. Friday I de-boned the rest of the bird, tossed the chopped up meat into a big pot with 4 lbs of diced carrots, same amount of diced spuds, added 4 qts of chicken broth and boiled it all til the veggies were tender. I had also added onion powder, salt/pepper, a couple tbls of chicken bullion, and a half dozen packets of turkey gravy mix. After all was back up to a rolling boil I tossed in about a pound and a half of egg noodles and set it on the back of the stove til the noodles were done(off the burner). At that time I added a cup of Smart Balance (butter type stuff) and it was done. We will have it gone in 2-3 days. It is mouth watering good.
