People need to know that turn around is representative of the companies popularity and/or good service, which equates to more work to be done, slowing turn around time down, does not mean they are slow or sloppy or shoddy in their work !
Also shipping is usually representative of distance with weight of your order, so if you ship a lot of pelts to a tannery states away they cost may be higher depending on who they use for shipping
A good example is my use of Moyles, they are excellent on garment tanned fur, their turn around averages about 4 months, they are close to me here in Utah them in Idaho, shipping is no debate, they do use different shipping methods per your weight order to keep costs down, any large single pelt, buffalo for instance is going to equate to a large shipping cost due to size and weight compared to 20 or forty coyotes.
I've used Tubari several times, clear across the states because they were given great references, they are to me no comparison to Moyles and their shipping is very costly because of the distance, no brainer to use Moyles, this is just one example, when your tanning a lot of fur each year, and are holding pelts for inventory all costs count !!
Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

I have used z and ll and moyles. Both do a good job but a and l has a much faster turnaround. I sent my fur to moyles at the end of April. I got it back last week.
Won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives.

I have used Z&L, Tubari, Sleepy Creek, Great Northern with is now Tubari and Moyles. Of those, Moyles is on top of the heap IMO. Yes, it is more expensive to ship to them but when I compare items done by Moyles side by side with any of the others, it is clearly worth it.
Now, I have another option to check out with Carolina Fur Dressing Company doing garment tans and they are only about 40 minutes drive for me. I certainly plan to check them out and see how they stack up to the competition. They are new to the garment business but have been a big player in the taxidermy tan business for several decades. They would sure save me a lot of shipping as I can deliver and pick up.

Carolina Fur dressing has open to the public and no longer just serving taxidermist and is reasonably priced as well This is awesome. Only a few hours away. This will save me a ton on shipping

Moyles returns a nice product in everything they tan, some places are more hit and miss is my experience.

Although I have never used them, I've shipped other folks' furs to Tubari and have heard a lot of guys that get a lot of furs tanned say good things about them.
Eh...wot?

Ben Deters @ Sleepy Creek Tannery in Wellsburg, Ia. I have been sending the best of my catch to him for 3-4 years, and he has always done an excellent job. Turnaround time has not been a factor for me, but I believe he is faster than Moyles. It sounds like there are some regional (virginia) tanneries, but I'm hesitant to ditch one small business owner for another.
