I don't mind paying more if needed. I know where they come from and what was feed to them. Money well spent locally. Sarge

Nice job. I miss having egg birds. Fixing up the coop is on my winter to do list.

My chickens are just starting to lay. Their 7 months old bielefelder. 15 hens and 2 roos. Getting 4-5 eggs a day in the last week.

Brown eggs. Some lighter color than others. When fully mature will lay extra large eggs. Those will be $2.50/doz. when matured enough.

I have 14 white leghorns. They started laying at about 5 and a half months. I got 9 eggs this morning and should get a couple more this afternoon. They are right at 6 months now. It was all they had at TSC when I got them. They free range during the day and I lock them up at night. I think at least one is laying in the barn.

I wish my chickens were laying that well. We are at zero for around fifty, on chicken eggs right now. I don't have artificial light in any of the 3 barns I keep chickens in and they have just about entirely stopped laying. I mostly hatch eggs and sell chicks and don't want to sell chicken chicks right now, so I am not worried about it to much. We do like having some eggs for eating though. Usually my silver laced Wyandottes lay pretty well, even with short Winter days, but not right now. I am thinking of adding LED lights attached to a solar panel in my barns.

My quail are under 24 hour light and are slacking off too. I should be getting around 1 1/2 gallons of quail eggs daily and I am getting only around 1/2 gallon. I hatch quail all year and can sell more chicks then I am producing.

Keith

You sure you can't get more $$? I'm in the Bronx, and people are getting $7 a dozen for their organic ones...
