I knew there were many produced however not nearly as many as 30-06
I had never seen a used 7400 in 308 right next to it in the used rack was a 7400 in 30-06
the price for the 7400 in 30-06 was 400 the price for the 308 was 650
308win 742 , 74 , 7400 rifle users almost never complained of the issues the 30-06 users did less powder and I suspect exactly the same gas port the 30-06 was over-gassed in my opinion and Remington could have made it right with a gas orifice kit or something similar but never did
I didn't find it much of a surprise that the 308 was 250 more even in price with the 76 760 and 7600 pump action rifles
the concept was there , the execution was a let down in time.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have one in 308. Been reliable as day and night. It's 40 years old and my go to rifle for everything. I use a snake bore to keep the barrel going and rem oil. Also use gun scrub to clean. It loves federal fusion 150 grain. Which i have 250 bullets for reloading. Its not thrilled with 165 grainers. Looks as good as new. Actually would buy another if i could find one. Puts meat on the pole every year. Also love the quick follow up shot. Have killed 2 deer back to back within 2-3 seconds of each other here in south carolina. I also plan on using it for my moose hunt. I love mine. Sarge
Getting old is a fatal mistake
Always looking for reloading componets
I know a beaver or two, because I've seen a beaver or two
