Elon Musk said that because of the expansion of numbers of electric cars, the global electricity production will have to double in the next few years to meet the demand. Time to build some unicorn powered treadmills I think to keep all those external combustion engines fed.
They want to get away from fossil fuels in the next decade or two according to shotgun Joey..... Don't even mention nuclear power as that would make the snowflakes melt in an instant. Given that Solar and wind power is producing and many percentage points and Harris had in the primaries ( less than 2% ) .... I wonder how those folks are proposing to meet the demand so that every man bun wearing macho can power his Tesla or Prius.
This is going to be fun to watch as ya just cant beat the effects of a healthy dose of reality now and then.

Ever try driving on in the snow with four people in it. If not try it some time. Maybe a nice day type car.

They are going to use sun baked clay instead of steel.

Michael, apparently these folks think electricity is made by the recepticle in the wall just like meat is made at the grocery store. That's as far back in the supply chain as their self involved intelects penetrate. So they think in order to stop using the evil fossil fuels we need to go to electric vehicles, regardless of the fact that the vast majority of our electricity comes from burning fossil fuels. Meanwhile, overregulation is choking the domestic nuclear power industry to death with many of the remaining power plants closing or slated to close in the near future because they cannot generate power at a price competitive with fossil or goverment subsidized solar and wind. Brilliant!

The steel is not the problem. They are making that now for cars powered by internal combustion engines. as they phase out , they will be replaced by electric ones. Mining the materials for the batteries is another issue. I bet China and australia are chomping at the bit as they have those resources and will tear up a lot of ground to keep up with the demand

Bit of clarification regarding a statement above about the Prius. The Toyota Prius Prime is indeed a plug in hybrid with an advertised 25 mile range.

Everything. I personally will never own a car smaller than a Chevy Suburban & my daily driver will always be a Silverado. Remove the subsidizes and they probably couldn't sell one of them.

Just another scenario they don't tell you about. Say you have 2 vehicles in the family, one truck and the missus has a SUV. You both come home from work and plug your cars in to have them full for tomorrows commute. If you think that your current transformer and the 200 amp breaker you have at the moment is going to cope with that .... think again. The whole infrastructure of the electricity network will have to be redone. Its not just about agitating twice as many pixies. you have to give them the means to run once they are all worked up as well. it would be the biggest energy reform in history. With our current technology, it would also be impossible to meet those needs without nuclear and fossil fuel power stations.

Great traping vehicle im sure. They are hatch backs right,?

I know a Chevrolet chevet can hall one deer on the hood but bet the Prius hood is to thin
A honda accord can hall 28 8' 2x4s , 2 bales of hay or one deer .

A deer can fit in the back floorboards of a Ford probe.

I'm sure they are great and capable if you get creative.

What are they going to do for plastic? Theres a lot of plastic inside and out in cars and trucks? Oil in plastic right? And they use coal in car plastic so its not conductive.
