there was a very nice article in the trappers post a few year back about it

not legal here other than for land owners as squirrel trapping is Illegal in WI so I never tried it

2x4 stud secured to a tree at a 45* angle with nails to hold the 110 on the narrow edge of the 2x4 , fabric wrapped like a strip of burlap on the trigger wires and smeared a peanut butter or other nut paste or nut based squirrel bait is what I recall

the narrow edge and angle got a good neck hit nearly every time with the 110 or 120

keeping the trap above 5 foot kept non target out of them like small dogs that could get their head in a 110

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I used to 40 yrs ago. Apple wedge on trigger with pb on it
.set up on a branch squeezed around two nails. Squirrel falls off the branc after caught. So anchor the chain to yhe branch.

I just drilled a wall nut out of the husk and slipped it over the trigger and secure the trap to the tree. This was years ago.

marshmellow with peanut butter on it, depending on what you have around you can place up in a tree or my favorite it to tie it to the side of a common tree they use so it faces up and down so they run up the tree to get it and get caught. I use fishing line typically to hole it in place

I needed to thin down the old mans squirrel population down once, just stuck a whole shell peanut on the trigger wires, worked great, BUT, it will also attract and catch blue jays, cardinals, and whatever other birds what likes peanuts...

This works awesome on barn rats filled with peanut butter. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work on squirrels.

I use boxes to avoid any non target issues.
I make the hole in the door 23/4", and I recess the trap as well
I use salted nuts of what ever is cheapest or on clearance

I've caught them using just about evrything mentioned above. PB works real well most of the time.

Now if you really want to put the smack down on them get yourself a few of these.
