Quebec feeds its deer to the gray wolf. Less than 80 miles from the True Northern Maine.

Same thing going on in Nova Scotia. Still some giants roaming but I believe deforestation is the main cause. Very few good stands of softwood left. Those are some beauties!

This is the first time I've heard someone blame coyotes for a lack of deer.
Now if you said wolves, I would understand. We have a few I'd sell you. You don't live in Maine. The coyotes are much bigger up here.

Or do you mean like urban sprawl and clearing for agriculture Cutovers provide good deer feed in spring, summers, and falls. The deer around here need those thick stands of cedar to yard up in the winters.Little snow and feed.Without those deer yards they are at the mercy of the family packs of coyotes and deep snow.

Well you're right I don't but we have 100 pound wolves AND decent sized coyotes up here plus gobs of other predators and most honest people still put most of the blame on people/dnr and a lack of logging. Our growing predator population does undoubtedly play a roll though come spring. I grew up in Illinois where we had no shortage of coyotes and the deer population did nothing but grow. But maybe you're completely right and I'm completely wrong.
