I pulled a few farms today, 5 of six new traps didn't fire when i stepped on them, they worked when i put my name tag on
Two didnt go off until i dropped them on the ground at my truck [Linked Image]

That's disappointing. I've heard rumors they need waxed on the trigger.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Just a lesson to fine tune everything before it's put to use. At least your not saying you saw paw prints over the pans. Life's lesson are always taught best hands on. Hope you have better luck. Those long pans need alot more travel at one end to fire

If those are the extreme jrs.send them to me. grin. I run only K9 extreme jrs. BUT they definitely need a little tuning out of the box unfortunately.

A little wax paper between the jaw and dog might help.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I’ve never stepped on a trap. I doubt mine would fire either since the pan sits right at or slightly below jaw level. I always use the handle of my hammer and they fire every time.

I'm also curious how people tune the extreme JRs. I just bought one extreme JR and one dogless Bridger #2 fully modified to see how they stack up. My initial thought was the JR was much better built. What was the problem with these traps causing them not to fire?

I guess the pan can move on this trap, i needed to adjust it, i decided since it is harder to use steel screen with this trap i will sell them and stay with dog on traps

I've never had a problem with Victor/Monty DOGLESS. You can even night latch them if you take the time. And, no problem using screens.

Extremes are factory night latched.

I haven't had a problem with them.

My extremes were fine after I waxed them. Then I reset a few after a catch. Once that initial wax was worn off, the pan tension was through the roof. I have even put bowstring wax on them, and it is still high. I’m going to try filing them some more. I love everything else about the trap, but it can be a heartbreaker when you walk up and see tracks all over the set, on dry, unfrozen ground.
