I saw a video on YouTube of a guy that says he traps coons “Burger King” style. He basically puts out these big water jugs with a pvc elbow in them and uses them as coon feeders to keep them around. Then one day he just happens to set out ohh maybe 15 or so dp’s. And wham. Have any of you ever tried this?

Tried setting out some Burger King stations once. They really didnt help much here. Too many people that feed deer from August to January and all the coon end up in their feeders. Hard to divert coon from their steady supply to a temporary one. Maybe there isn't enough coon around these parts where I'm at to have them be real effective. Or, maybe I should set them out earlier in the year and longer.

Unless you have a free source of goodies to put out you’d be throwing any money you’d make off coon pelts down the drain. When I was in high school I worked at a grocery store and bags of pet food would constantly get ripped open. I’d take the spilled stuff and save it all year in plastic buckets from the bakery. Then put it out as a bait station one year to try. Save your effort, and just spread your traps out and use any bait you intended to make a bait station with and use it to cover more ground. If you’re limited on trapping territory then it might help
catch a few more coons but not cost effective if you are buying bait.

Coons are pretty easy to catch without going to that much effort.

I've used them and they concentrate them in one place so you gang set and hammer them mostly the first day. I know prices aren't good but if you want to get rid of them it is effective.

When they were worth skinning I would take a cat litter bucket , drill 1/2 in holes aroung the bottom. Put some cheap dog food in it the week before I started to trap. Set the dps and unload them for next 3 nights. after that its possoms and dry runs.

Bait stations or feeders put them in a small area to catch them fast without a lot of time on that line. The catch rate per trap goes up compared to running a mile-long line. I use a lot of deer hunters bait piles and feeders along with my spots.
