I don't think this is all the reasons but it does explain some of it.Of course the spokesman for these shipping companies are like politicians so you have to take that in consideration..Found this on Fox.

it is why you see the email that a package has shipped but the tracking doesn't show for UPS for a couple days , they print the label now at the shipper but it may sit there till the carrier is ready for it or till the carrier has a full trailer ready to go.

Just got a package yesterday from Calif. Took 4 days to get to Saint Louis and 6 days to get the last 100 mi. USPS

Walmart is awfully bad about stringing out orders. Granted some come from different parts of the country but some time they ship them for three days from the same spot and the Fedex has to make 3 trips out in the sticks and I know they can't be making their gas on light stuff.

I ordered a starter for my pickup from rock auto last Thursday afternoon. It shipped FedEx. Truck driver put it on my porch Sunday afternoon.

Ordered some stuff to build a fishing pole for a grandkid in November. Shipped USPS. Was scheduled to be here December 3 originally. That kept changing. Last expected delivery date from the tracking number was December 10. Now it says:

Hello Mr Clifton,

Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

It arrived in Kansas City December 4. About 60 miles from me to that facility. USPS is worse than ridiculous on timely service. Their excuse is Zombie virus.

They picked up your package today. laugh

I know they are swamped with everyone staying home and ordering on-line, I'm sure Christmas has only added to this. I shipped a package to NV on the 6th, last I checked it still hasn't got there but it's still on its way. frown

Amazon bought a bunch more jets to keep up with demand. My son is an airline pilot and his company (Sun Country) contracted a bunch of the Amazon flights so he is flying more boxes than people these days.

my dad used to work for UPS , the holiday season was always extra trucks, including rented trucks no vacation could be used , "runners" seasonal employees that could run the package to the door while the driver found the next package and logged the drop off.

my dad used to be gone 12+ hours a day every day from thanksgiving till Christmas

he would sometimes wait and take his lunch and 2 15 minute breaks at the house on Christmas eve to eat Christmas eve dinner for an hour then take the truck back to the building. he knew the Manager had to wait for all the trucks to come back to the building and it was the only way he was eating supper with us that was usually about 6pm on Christmas eve his route was west of where we lived and the UPS office east so he had to pass by any way.
