Ever experience this? Muskrat was laying dead about 5 feet from sprung 330. Obviously hit him just right & knocked him aside

Seen it once or twice on rats hit by beaver bodygrips, and a few times with weasels hit by 120's.
I always do a quick look around when I find a sprung trap.

Over the years of 330ing beaver with castor mounds,I have had several muskrats whacked with the 330 and laying a short ways from the set.
Not a surprising occurrence.

A few years ago I came up on a sprung 220, about 15 feet away a rat was staggering around on the bank, ran over and grabbed him by the tail, game over.

Started setting a pond form'rats once and came across a couple of rats that alive but barely swimming with bloody noses. Became very worried of a disease outbreak or something happening and started to leave the pond. Then came upon a clearly very dejected young trapper that his meat traps where being sprung but were always empty. Asked him to show me how/what he was setting for a little instruction. He pulled a wood barn rat trap from his burlap bag with a carrot chunk wired to the trigger. Mystery solved and we had a teaching conversation.

I've never had that happen until this year, saw a dead rat on the other side of a narrow channel and had a sprung 330 near side.

Seen it with 120's with 'rats and with Victor Rat Traps w weasels. Had a 330 go off once that had just set in a bvr. doorway. Pulled it and the nostrils of a 'rat were cleanly cut off and in the jaws of the 330. Never did find the 'rat - figure it must have made it into the bvr. house and expired.

Yes Boco smart move to take a quick look around whenever u come across a sprung body grip trap.

Imagine it can occur with any size body grip trap and most any animal that takes a good knock but is not held. So bigger animals are possible.

Had a 220 in a fisher box , found it sprung and a dead mink lay outside the box.

Was bowhunting near one of my boxes with a 220 in it and watched a red squirrel get launched into a tree.

He crawled a bit but didn't make it Ended up skinning him.

Maybe 5 years ago I found a 220 sprung and a lump laying in the snow maybe 5' away.
Kicked it and a bobcat was laying there dead. Must have hit him hard enough but didn't get stuck in the trap. Goofy.
