As long as they’re clean and degreased go ahead and set them. They’ll develop a nice coat of rust this season and you can treat them next summer any way you want.

Should I wax them quick for the rest of the season and dye and wax next year like normal? I'm 95% of water trapper, so I don't know how much you can het away with as far as scent with K9s.

Nah, wax is only to protect the trap from rusting. On new traps you’ll want a coat of rust anyways for prepping later, so set em just like they are and they’ll be just fine. The only thing that matters right now, as far as fooling coyotes, is that they are clean
