I guess he liked the spots and called the owner and got permission. Took another guy mule deer hunting a couple years ago now 2 different of his friends are going out and hunting same spots.

Sucks.I learned that lesson with hunting and fishing spots the same as you.The hard way. mad

I learned in my teens about this. Killed a pretty nice buck on the hunting lease and told people where. The next season went back and only saw hunter orange and not deer. Lesson learned.

Probably be a bunch of educated animals by the time I get back out.

That isn't funny because it's probably more true than you realize grin but the blessing is you can teach me the next level of trapping

Most dont want to really go to the next level I have found. Too much work and skinning work daily I am told from many who got the info and put it to work.

Kind of what happened with my camera. Friend of the landowner ask him to rifle hunt. Landowner said I already had permission and told them to call me to see if I cared. I told him (against my judgment) he could hunt Monday through Wednesday. Think he snuck in on Sunday when knew I would be at Church got caught on the camera so they stole it.

Yes sir- Kind of thinking about buying a camera for setting this location next year. You have to drive a 2 track to get to my set areas.

I've had bad experiences along those lines too.Took a predator trapper on my beaver line because he said he wanted to see what beaver trapping was all about only to go back the next year and find him trapping the ponds that I took him to.Had one guy watch me set up a culvert for mink, the next year I found his traps in my spots, and he got mad at me because out of spite I set up around him!I took a relative new to the area deer hunting ,the next fall before season I found the seat I use (a stump)had been removed, and 4wheeler tracks down the trail.Found out later the relative had a tree stand there and was claiming the area for himself(state land).I learned my lesson.

Thats crazy telling people where you trap and hunt or fish.
That would almost be as bad as telling someone your best trapping sets/methods.

I like helping people but when it comes to my hunting spots its caused me more anger than happiness. Unfortunately

I truly believe most amateurs have no idea they are stepping on toes when they do this. I have seen it happen from Elk hunting to minnow trapping. I finally started teaching the etiquette that goes along with the secrets and haven't had much trouble since.

Yes sir, we all been there unfortunately. Fortunately I also have friends that are the salt of the earth.

My blood is boiling thinking about the few times it's happened to me. It's been a few years and it still bothers me. No

There’s only two people I tell where I hunt or trap, my son and best friend and will tell them where to set up.
They are both good woodsmen and will kill or catch the cream of the crop. But they always check with me before going...

Part of the reason I quit deer hunting was the rat race that happened every year. I remember one time I set up a deer blind for a co-worker (female) to hunt her first deer. She couldn't care less what it was and was happy with a doe. The people that leased the adjacent property (family) shot a deer with a bow and drug the gut pile out in front of the blind a day before season opened. I've never been real cordial since. I've seen people lose their minds over hunting property etc... I just stay out of it and quietly trap along side most of them without them knowing.
