Well, went into the wood shop today. I'm trying to get all of those little nagging projects out of the way. I turned on the air compressor and it made a heinous squeal followed by a couple thuds and seized. Just to finish it off, a puff of the magic blue smoke rose from the dead carcass before I could get over there to turn it off. I was a little peeved that it totaled it's self. However, I bought this little oil less 20 gallon compressor probably 20 years ago "just to get me through" I cant believe it lasted this long. It's seen quite a bit of use. Well, the long term plan was to get a large stand alone two stage compressor when this gave out and pipe air around the shop and garage. Naturally with this being Christmas and all, I don't have a couple grand for that. So I upgraded to this one. Seems pretty good so far, it's oil filled, 30 gallon, single stage and belt driven. Not quite what I wanted to do but it should get me by.

Factory's put smoke into everything. Especially electrical things. Especially printed circuit electrical things. Designed to let the smoke out after a prescribed amount of time. When the smoke is let out, time for new electrical thing.
