You are ready for a snow storm for sure. We could survive or a long time without getting any food also. A longgggggggggg time.

We like to stay stocked too. Dry goods are easy. Freezer stuff isn't too bad, as long as electric stays on. We have a generator but would eventually run out of gas.
The hard stuff is cans and bottles. We try to use the old stuff first but always end up going through the pantry a few times a year and throwing out a lot of expired stuff. Wish I had the room to set up shelves that we would stock from the back and use from the front.

no pictures , mine is a mess and needs re-organization again.
we have a pantry I like to keep decently full and some freezers
Oil is one of the things people forget about the most , lots of cooking uses oil , people often forget to have a gallon or two on hand.
we shop every 2 weeks and like to have a months worth in reserves if my picky eaters would eat bean soup , stew and chilli we could go months.
TP shortage 1 caught me with the least TP I had had in a Decade that will not happen again.

when we were talking about infected cuts the other day here it reminded me about povidone-iodine so I picked some of that up at the pharmacy .
I keep a drawer in the dining room with all the medical stuff , benadryl , asprin , bandages , tums, .........

Yeah but oil is easy to get. You could always start cooking with coon grease if you had to . I've got a bunch of jars of bacon grease stored. I keep it for bear bait but its a handy backup for cooking too. I used to have a bucket of black bear fat but it went rancid before I rendered it.
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

I get the 3 gallon jugs of peanut oil never know when you need a beer batter fish fry
and stay a few liters ahead on olive oil.
I am going to pass on coon fat until I can't
a few years back we tried to just eat on what we had for a while , oil was the first thing we ran out of , we keep more on hand now.

I went thru a pantry this week and took out all the "best by (insert date)" but didn't throw anything out yet, as it isn't really expired. Just a suggestion.

I like to have back up propane too. Salt for preserving is often overlooked by people, even with no power salt will save lots of your food. I get mine cheap at the feed mill

Unless the cans are compromised, canned food lasts many decades. Taste, flavor and nutrition will fade over time but will be safe. I personally wouldn’t throw cans away unless they are not holding seal. Acidic items like tomatoes are supposed to be harder on their cans over time, so rotating them is more important I guess.
