Finally up to an outing so went with the boys to set today. Found a heck of a beaver dam. May have only been able to stand on the bank but showed them what a crossover was and told them how to set it. Pretty sure there will be one there tomorrow. Activity everywhere. Really wanted to be down in the water with them but fun watching them. Dam was over six foot tall.

Always fun to teach other that are willing to learn. The younger the better. They do not know how lucky they are!

Had put in beaver, rat, and coon sets down river before we found the big dam. Boys were going goose hunting in the afternoon so we ran out of time to set more above the dam.

Great way to break them in. Now is when they will find the unwritten rule of the biggest will be at the farthest from the truck.

Good job on getting others into trapping. Make sure you post a picture if they catch one on that crossover!

Awesomeness

I was a llittle disappointed today but boys were happy. One beaver around 40 pounds. Nothing at the crossover. I would have bet money there would be one there. They stayed to set more traps and I returned to my recliner coaching. Walking through tall grass and weeds was more difficult than I expected. Still it was my first time going on a check this year and I felt like a little kid this morning.

Awesome! The beav looks porkier than 40. Hope it has some nice sized fall castors in it!!

Good they didn't get skunked the first check. Glad to hear your check engine light didn't come on for the first trip afield in the tall grass.
