.... too much guiding... you’ll only catch gray fox and special needs coyotes in that set lol

.. you also need to offset your pan .250” to the north east

Insert profound nonsense here

That will also take any Cat that comes by. But then, you already know that.

I would take the bigger sticks out but keep the dirt clumps/ pebbles and tiny sticks for guiding around the trap like you did. If you’re worried about them approaching from the side you could use a turd and some pee back by the hole on a set like that and if he happens to approach from the side he will mark it or if he approaches from the front he will probably mark it. Either way he spends more time at the set and his approach doesn’t matter as much. They really don’t like big blocking. Otherwise looks good to me!

OK, I gotta come clean. This isn't my set. In fact, it isn't a set at all. This is where a coyote was trying to dig out a ground squirrel. I haven't touched it at all. He left a small pile of droppings at the edge of the hole. This is exactly how I was shown by one of my mentors to make a trench set for coyotes. When I first saw it, I thought "Someone else is trapping here and they are using my sets!"

I put a #3 Bridger Dogless there at the entrance, added a small gob of bait and freshened the droppings with some urine. That's it. We will see.

There is no trap there in that picture. That's exactly how I found it.

If i built a set like that id have a paw print out about 18 inches. I know this because thats what happens to all my trench sets. Sometimes they even leave me a present in the form of a poo! Not sure why i cant get that set figured out.
