freakin crazy........i was doing numbers today.......i have caught 273 possums since season began nov 10..................catching them in boxes intended for coon.................and these are the lil ones..........not even worth skinning..................this isnt good.......serious population explosion...are you guys seeing crazy high numbers of possums too

I only caught 5. 3 little blacks that I let go, 2 nice big soft silvers that I kept.

I'm so glad we don't have them. I can't stand even looking at them let alone catching them! They are an ugly critter IMO.

I thought I was the only one lol. I couldn’t keep them out of my traps!! I usually catch some while coon trapping, but this year was crazy. I caught probably 2 or 3 times as many possums as I did coons.

I can't understand why there's no market for them and people hate them. Some of them have nice soft silver coats, the fur isn't ugly to me at all. The little black ones are gross, of course, but the silvers are cool.

We got a bunch here, i caught 21 just in my barn this year.

Think Illinois has some of the highest possum numbers. You know they are really bad when you start catching them in under ice sets for beaver.

I noticed one year that when a little possum was caught in a 220, it would often survive. Released two that survived.

Maybe it's on account of all those Facebook ninnies that gush non-stop about the cute, friendly, WONDERFUL tick vacuuming Opossum. Good Lord, you'd think these dip-sticks would pull their heads out long enough to actually reserch the claim that grinners eat up to 5000 ticks a day. A couple of the bird forums I frequent have had threads about it, and I have been attacked and vilified visiously when I point out that the tick magnet story is 99% bunk, and that Opossums are top notch bird nest destroyers and nestling gobblers. Pathetic.

Possums breed like crazy why would you release them I don’t get this? When I hear that 5000 tick eating BS I ask why are they covered with them then are the packing a lunch maybe. I also add that they carry a virus that will kill a horse then they are not so cute.

You have to love possums. Back in 2003 when I wrote the book.

They have some if the softest underfur that I've dealt with...which isn't very much, of course. My son has caught something like 10 of them out if 3 traps so far.
