Kudos and I especially like your choice of traps for the youngins. IMO the Montana coyote trap are about as user friendly as they get!

My oldest son Finley just turned 14. He has only been trapping with me since last year. I will let him tell the rest below. Thank you sir!

Hello my name is Finley. I have been trapping with my dad since last year. I found my dad's trap basket in top of his shop last year during deer season. We hunt alot but he never used his traps anymore. I asked him and he said when he was young he trapped alot. I asked him if we could put them out after deer season was over and he said sure. I got the trap basket out and looked at the traps, he still had all the old lures in there to. Some of them smelled really bad. He showed me how the traps worked and told me about all the animals he caught back when he was younger. I got really excited about being able to trap with him. We got permission from our neighbors to trap a creek that runs through our property and theirs. So we put out some raccoon sets and some mink blind sets. We only caught two raccoons but we had alot of fun. I like trapping raccoons bec6there are alot of them around and they look cool. So this year he got us permission to trap a Beaver swamp down the road fro. Our house. We went and bought some Conibear 330 amd #3 foot traps. Today me and him amd my sister went and scouted the Beaver swamp. We found there house and alot of trails. We are going back after deer season to try and catch them. Thank you.

Thank you for this opportunity, KSLongliner!

I was 11 years old when the adventure that launched me into my trapping career started. It was November and our chicken house kept getting hit! The only trap we possessed was a coon sized cage trap. We weren't trappers; we didn't even know anything about the trapping industry! So we baited it with cat food and waited .... and waited ... and WAITED! FINALLY on Christmas Eve, looking through the scope of my Marlin I saw that we had Mr. Lepew in our cage! On CHRISTMAS EVE too!

That solved our problems until a few weeks later, when we found a mutilated chicken in the corner of the pen! Chicken after chicken we lost, but we could not catch the murder. We turned that pen into Alcatraz but still chickens died. So one morning, armed with a 12 gauge shotgun we busted into the crime house. Inside was a massive (I MEAN HUGE!) boar 'coon! Naturally he didn't escaped this time!

So after that we watched a lot of YouTube videos, and bought a couple Duke DPs. I trapped about two dozen 'coons along the creek until September of that year. In that month we attended a local Gun Show where the Texas Trappers & Fur Hunter Assoc. had a booth set up. We stayed in touch with the awesome trapper running the booth. He taught us a lot and we ended up trapping 2 coyotes and 10 bobcats that following season. That was 4 seasons ago now, and we're still learning a lot, especially from Mark June! Now I'm 15, and I have 8 coyotes, 3 bobcats, 2 grey fox, and of coarse a lot of coons, possums, and skunks so far this season!

My favorite, by a long shot, is the coyote! I caught my 21st coyote ever today!

My name is Alicia, I am 15 and it is my second year trapping. I started trapping when I was 13 years old. I was with my dad in the garage and had found his DP coon traps. I had heard him talk about trapping, so decided that I wanted to try trapping as well. We went out to our farm and set raccoon traps. We ended up only catching three coons but it got me really interested. Over the winter I spent lots of time reading about trapping and watching videos. I ordered my own traps, lure, bait, knives, and everything else needed for trapping. Once spring came around my dad found us some land where beaver needed to be caught. I caught 13 beaver that spring. Ranging from 16-80 pounds! I learned how to skin them myself. I am not very good at fleshing them, but that will come with time. This year I caught my first fox and skunk, which was really awesome. My favorite animal to trap is by far beaver. I love their fur and how easy it is to know where they are going. Thank you very much for this generous opportunity. [Linked Image] [Linked Image]
