Two New York Police Department (NYPD) officers and a sergeant are being hailed as heroes after they immediately shot a gunman who had opened fire on a choir singing Christmas carols outside the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
CNN reports the gunman, who later died at the hospital, was in his 50s, “…had two handguns, approached the church doors, and opened fire into the air.”
The NYPD officers shot the gunman in the head, and he later died in the hospital.
A spokesman for the church said in a statement, “Thankfully, none of the attendees were hit.”
"NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea hailed the officers as heroes during a press conference Sunday," reports CNN.
Stories like these, and countless examples of armed citizens preventing carnage, are common, though you won’t hear about them from the mainstream media. Instead, we hear of efforts to “defund the police,” seize guns from law-abiding citizens, and make innocent Americans sitting ducks for crazed killers.

Just last night the neighborhood I'm staying in got sifted through and 18 unlocked cars were rummaged through. I had my pickup locked with two rifles under the seat. All is well.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Interesting that he was "firing into the air". It almost sounds like suicide by cop.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Interesting that he was "firing into the air". It almost sounds like suicide by cop. In Minnesota, the cops would already be fired and charged with murder. Maybe even prosecuted by the Mayor and Governor.

Sounds like suicide to me also. Guy has a gun in his hand, firing it, what choice did the officers have?
Cops here had to shoot a guy a few years ago. Was threatening suicide so family took him to the emergency room. Hospital released him. So he went into a hardware store with a bb gun that looked like a 1911. Started yelling and waving it around. Cops arrived and he pointed it instead of dropping it. Sad deal. Again, what choice did the officers have?
Some really deranged people in this world.

Maybe even prosecuted by the Mayor and Governor. You got that right. That is if we even have a police department since the Minneapolis city council wants to defund the police department and Crazy Omar wants to replace them altogether.
