That was the first rifle I ever had. Got one when I was 8. My dad had the stock cut down and I shot thousands and thousands of rounds through it while learning firearms safety all the while. Dad built an indoor shooting range in the basement and I used CB and BB caps down there. It’s an accurate, reliable .22, great find! I gave mine to a friend to get his son started.

So the 521 has a different stock and sights, but apart from that, is it the same barrel and action that was used on the 510 series?
And as for the concept.......a bolt action repeating rifle that will take shorts, longs and long rifle interchangeably......current theory suggests that is not a good idea, yet these rifles have performed well for close to 70 years now. Curious why some modern era maker doesn't take that up and make them like it again. Basically an exact twin to the 512 or Marlin 81, which are tubular feed guns. Seems that greatly simplifies the magazine to handle the different length rounds.
Savage makes some single shot youth guns that are marked for S, L, LR, but not many other's do. And no repeaters.
And with all the emphasis on gun and ammo combinations being made today, I find it almost falling down funny how accurate these old guns were, using the ammo being made in the 50's and 60's. Why reinvent the wheel?

the 44US is similar and took shorts longs long-rifle it has a threaded stud that threads into the bottom of the magazine to allow it to feed shorts , this shortens the mag the stud becomes the back of the magazine
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

You can’t go wrong with these old Remington 22’s. They are super accurate. They had three versions of these that I know of. Single shot, bolt action, and automatic. Be on look out for the rest to complete your collection.

Old enough to know better, but dumb enough to still try.

I am glad you are enjoying it. I wouldn't mind having one myself.
