Can't use them for that here in MN.

Yeah, but you better be a GOOD operator! . . . Sharpshin Hawks and other birds of prey can really play //// with them!

Im sorry but I really dont like Drones! State of Alabama DNRC thought it would be a good Idea to use them to spy on deer hunters and check on Private property who had corn out. Yep you guest it = redneck alabama deer hunter blew 2 out of the skies last year! I can honsetly say = If one flies over my property its coming down. Now public land. I quess its OK for trapping and checking traps if legal . But others may disagree . If its loud and buzzing , and disturbing someones hunting? Well . I quess I can see how it might get shot down I agree that definitely could be a problem. I think that if allowed it should be private property only by or with written permission of the property owner. I would have a problem if I were on public and buzzed by a drone. I do know most public I've been on in Georgia has signage prohibiting drones.

Drones are private property, and, therefore subject to vandalism

I have a drone. Haven't used it to check traps. I have flown it over 100 miles in the 2 months I've owned it - most of that flight over other people's property.
I usually fly to explore lakes, streams, and other parts of nature. I don't fly to spy on anyone. In fact, if I'm flying over your property, I'm typically flying at 400' and moving as fast as my drone can go (about 45mph) to get to my destination. I doubt that anyone has ever notice it was there. If there's no wind, you can hear the buzz from the propellers but by the time you find the tiny dot in the sky, it's already long gone.
FAA regulates navigable air space. Drone is like an airplane in that it's allowed to fly in any non-restricted air space and can even fly in restricted airspace with authorization - which is usually fairly easy to get through an automated system set up by the FAA.
And, I didn't know this until I bought a drone but here is no way you're going to use one to spy on anyone. At any distance close enough to spy on anyone, these things are surprisingly loud. You'll never sneak up on anyone.

This is all true, however like any other tool there are morons who will misuse them. Unfortunately, it's the geniuses that pay the price.
