My Dad had Polio in 1944. So he had one Good Arm. He shot .243's and 6mm.'s. Similar and lighter Rifles

But he had about 5 or 6 longuns. One old shotgun which was my Grandpas that Dad never shot. ZERO Handguns while Growing up.

Dad would have had more but he sold bought and sold etc...

I've Sold all mine.

He had zero. I had several by the time I was 17. Bought on my own, God Bless America.

My dad had a 12 gauge shotgun, that’s all. He had won it at a dance. His dad who drove a tank in ww2, had a single shot 22.

Well I'm pleased to see that we were well above average. Dad wasn't a collector or gun nut but he had a decent selection of tools and they were all tools used regularly and always at the ready.

My dad had several, I would guess 8 long guns and a couple of pistols.

Both grandads had a couple of guns that I remember

My great grandad had a handful that I remember

My great grandmother (mom's side) had a single shot .410, an automatic .22 rifle and probably a pistol of some sort that I never saw. she was a widow and lived on 300+ ac about a mile off the highway. She wasn't scared of one thing

I see a trend with many of your house holds as I saw in my own. kids get to hunting age and the house gets more guns

likely a lot of our fathers got more into hunting as we got into hunting mine certainly did. good memories squirrel hunting and deer hunting.

both hold true in my house , when I could go shooting and hunting with my son I got more guns and he got guns.

he bought his first shotgun at 10 , we had looked at it at the gun shop before Christmas and his mom was going to take him to buy it the next day but when she called the store to make sure they still had it before driving over they said now they didn't see it , 2 weeks later we were in the store and spotted it. so we bought it then. a 20ga shotgun , well we had to go shoot it right then , so we went to the range , it was snowing sideways , blowing and we were standing in knee deep snow , had to walk in from the road , he was grinning ear to ear shooting His shotgun.

he had a little money saved , but he worked the rest off ,much of it splitting and stacking fire wood, he was so proud

he shot some pheasant with it and his first deer and a lot of trap.

My grand parents may have had guns , my Dad only had one old single shot 410 that my nephew got when Dad died. I have zero guns as I lost them all in a flood . Keep thinking if I need one I can dig one up if I look in the right place.

Dad had an old single shot bolt action 22 cal. used for killing weasels in the chicken house when needed and to shoot cows and pigs for food. He didnt get a pistol until many years later in his life at the encouragement of his then son in law, but as far as i know never used it. Many on here I would think have enough guns and ammo to defend the alamo.

I dont own any firearms or ammo. I just carry a big stick.

My Dad had a Marlin 30-30 and a Ruger .22 revolver. I got a .22 rifle when I was 8 or so, and that's when the firearm population at our house really started growing. By the time I was old enough to drive, there were probably a couple dozen at all times. Sure wish I had kept them all, but I loved trading them when I was younger. I would get bored with one and trade it off for something I just couldn't live without.

When we were little Daddy had a model 1100 12 gauge, model 94 30-30, and little single shot bolt .22, later he won a 870 Wingmaster in a raffle.

It wasn't until us boys go big enough to pack our own shotgun that the arsenal began to grow.

Until his father passed, he only owned a Japanese rifle he brought back from WW2. After his dad passed he got a Winchester 1895 pump in 22 wrf. Parents bought me a single shot 20 gauge when I was a teenager so he owned that too.
I have the 1895 now. Other 2 he sold after I left home.
