Do they work or are they a gimmick?

Anyone ever use one on a pellet stove OR gas-powered woodstove?

I can see some benefit in using one in one or more of my rooms but figured I'd ask around first.....

Thanks!

There's been a few threads about them over the last two years or so. Some folks thought they worked okay, most said they didn't move much air. White17 really hates them! LOL

Eh...wot?

I was at a friend's place and he had two on top of his wood stove. They worked well. The fans were about 6 inches in diameter with an aluminum base. He took one off the wood stove and set it on a table. He said they will take 20 to 30 minutes to cool enough where they stop turning.

A little gun shop near me has one on the wood stove. Its not his main heat source more for the look. The fan is always spinning but he never has the stove "jumping" so don't know how much air it would really move.

Yes, they "work" in that they spin on top of the stove.

Do they make a noticeable difference of moving heat around a room?

Not really

I have a small 120 year old potbelly coal stove in my small hunting cabin, it's off grid, no electric. I have the ECO fan sitting on top, it is the best thing I did. I use short wood during the day and some coal at night. I no longer have a hot spot cold spot, cabin is all warm. The thermometers on the walls don't lie. Light a stick match, blow it out, hold next to fan and follow the smoke. When the fan slows it's time to add wood. I am buying another.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

Zagman , l have a Yukon American eagle dual purpose wood furnace. Have run it for 8 years with minimum problems. When we're gone the propane fuels the furnace or early in the morning if the wood burns out. Propane part is not as efficient as the newer propane furnaces but we try to keep the wood burn going. I like it because the propane companies can't hold me hostage any more on the price of propane.

I bought one this yr for my tent. It works great as far as heating up and spinning.. as far as really making any difference in the airflow or comfort level in the tent I could not feel any difference. We have 3 guide tent we used the fan in one one without as I said I couldn't tell a difference and will not be buying for the other tents infact may take this one back

Saw a video where a guy modified one to sit on top of his buddy heater. My take on this is it seems it would work better in smaller rooms/tents/ice shacks, but would less necessary in smaller spaces.

This year I have a small USB fan for the ceiling of my ice shack to hopefully circulate some of the heat.
