I agree it's part of the trade as a trapper

Not always garaunteed unfortunately. If you're not on a steep drop off, ive had too many beaver than I'd like drag heavier weights back to the bank on more gentle sloping bottoms.

Calvin, I agree with this. I trap cotrage country, and often the sets need to be in view. I'd rather an educated beaver than being part of a Facebook smear campaign.

As for underwater, an even better time to use a magnum trap. Especially under ice beaver trapping.

Things get messy with sticks and feed beds around and arm and tail catches are common.

Aside for visible nuisance traps, all I use are magnums. Sauvageau mostly because belisles suck to try stabilize on sticks, and their safeties are dangerous

Their Safeties are what makes them Safe. Don't remove them until the set is finished

SNIPER B in my mind when writing that I was thinking river's. In the case of lakes it's important to have long drownerswith even heavier weights. The weights I use are Triangle shaped and don't move easy.

The Belisle should be the standard for all body grips.

The safeties have to be off when setting in marten boxes. Not a big deal.

No. I use certain traps for certain reasons. Plus, I own traps I would like to continue to use.

I think the original reason that bodygrips were not magnums was concern for safety. Still a concern.

Body grips were designed as killer traps. That a magnum will work as a restraining trap can cause problems.

All I own are Belisles too. Best beaver bodygrip out there. The only drawback is the Super X is harder to stabilize than most others out there. That's why I prefer the Belisle Classic over the Super X. But, I still have some Super Xs too.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.
