Just saw where a church in California was fined $55,000 dollars for repeatedly violating covid guide lines. What do you all think is this going to far?

It's been way over the line for a long time. I am not sure how you would fine someone or an entity for an edict which is not a law. All I can say is be careful what you wish for whoever did it. I seem to remember some other places that took on GOD. Sodom and Gamora and Babel come to mind.

Wonder if their elected elite also have to pay fines of the same amount for the same reasons?

A church near me had a Christmas music program. One hundred members contracted Covid. They have suspended all in person services now. Was a Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. The Jesus I believe in does not demand me to disrespect my heath. Just the opposite. They should have worn masks. Then all would be well.

There was no church for Jesus to attend. His ministry was about creating believers, disciples and apostles and not building millions of buildings so we can worship in comfort and maybe not really hear the message Jesus was really offering for us. Man made the church building for those to congregate and thus man can and does make the laws about how it should be utilized if actions can impact other community citizens. Actions of those who feel they have the freedom to do as they please even if the impact could be harmful to others may be one of the reasons roughly 60% of Americans don't attend church regularly or at all.
Bryce So is it constitutional for government to interfere with worship or not

Bryce Quite simply; Since the days of the early church and followers of "the Way," fellowship has been a cornerstone of the bride of Christ, His Church. To discount it, or call no need of it, is to tread over ground that is certainly not orthodox (tradition) in the least. The body of Christ is strength for all of us - Divinely designed as such. We can debate this church or that church, but I wouldn't stand firmly on no Church. Pride says I don't need a church filled with other people. Humility says I can practice loving others as myself and praying for my enemies amidst all of them at my local church. It's good practice for heaven anyway, where all tongues and all tribes will worship together. Plus it's Thee Divinely ordained Rock upon which many have and will come to stand, as Satan and his minions continue to spew hate upon all of it. Blessings, Mark

If they refuse to pay what happens? Cant put it on their property taxes there are none. Start arresting every member? I hope they say no to paying it. Continue holding services. Stick up for their selves.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Does not Romans 13 1-2 instruct to follow not only the Law of God but also the Law of man and the government which he put in place? Unless the law of man conflicts with the Law of God.
