I have had a very eventful day. I have worked on my tanning in the basement most of the day. I started yesterday with preparing 8 muskrats, one fox and 4 raccoon.
I planned on doing them in the second step today, but a friend of mine brought me 13 muskrats that are still froze and with no room left in the freezer... well started thawing them.
They are still not thawed. So, tomorrow... I have to work on 8 muskrats in step two, one fox in step two, start skinning 13 musrats (if they are thawed), and work on beginning to break the 4 raccoon.

Today I tried to burn the house down... well almost. I put a pot of food on the stove simmer and went to the basement, where I forgot about the pan on the stove. I came up from the basement to get something to drink. The pot had boiled dry, turning the food in pot to charcoal, and filled the house with smoke, to the point that I gagged and couldn't breath. I had to open the doors and air the house out.

I am now done for the day and have finished supper and have a tremendous head ache and back ache. Just took 2 tylenol and a muscle relaxant got a glass of Ginnger ale with a short hit of encouragement added ot it. I looks like tomorrow wil another fun filled day.

Below is my gift of 13 Muskrats.

You should take the rats out of the plastic and buy a smoke detector for your house.

Well Garry you are indeed a lucky man. You did not get your thumb stuck once in a trap while getting those 13 rats and your house is still standing. Go fill out a lottery ticket while you are on this lucky streak.

Did your smoke alarms go off upstairs. Hope so. They might need new batteries. Glad you didn’t have a house fire.

Be very thankful and as stated get some smoke detectors. Sometimes the fire department will give them out for free.

Thanks guys... I did check the smoke detector and the battery was dead. Of course if it did go off while I was working in the basement, I wouldn't have heard it. Will have to get a new one when go out again. I thought the smoke detectors all had a beeper that sounded off when the battery was weak... I guess not.

BOCO... My friend brought them to me in a bag. I dumped them on the floor to snap a photo, then took them to the cellar and removed the wrappers.

you need a smoke detector in the kitchen ours is very good at telling when we are two minutes out from dinner being ready.

make sure to get the one with the button to silence it for 5 minutes and cut a stick the right length to reach that button to leave near by.
