Living in one is NOT for everyone! I lived in one for two years and you couldn't beat me into it again! But I know people that love it.

waggler has a point.
Most people sell their home and RV until their health breaks, then go back into sticks & bricks close to kids or health care provider. With your knee problems, it won't be much fun doing your own work on one. LP lines, water, sewer etc.
As far as a new pickup and fifth wheel, there are new widows everyday in Florida, Texas and Arizona that sell these because they can't drive them or set them up.

You CAN do a lot if things.

It doesn't always mean you SHOULD do it.

I think ADC hit it out of the park with this one.

FWIW- The wife and I lived in a 30' long, four season RV for 2-1/2 years while dealing with county permits and building. It wasn't a hardship and we're still married. Ours had two large bumpouts that made it more spacious. I'd recommend against bumpouts as they will cost you dearly in heat loss during the winter.
As stated in earlier posts, buying an RV is like buying a car. They depreciate quickly. Ours was 32,000 new. 2-1/2 years later I sold it for 19,500. Happy to see it go and I have not camped out a single night since.

Any military personnel that have lived in a barrack, aboard ship, and especially a submarine, shouldn't have much problem adjusting to living in a comfortable RV. They generally have more space than a cramped compartment with xx #'s of men for extended amounts of time! :-)

My great grandfather did it he would spend winters in Arizona, summers at Whitefish Minnesota, and stop here to plant and combine, it worked for him but back then campers were priced decent.

Will I think I am going to pass on the RV idea. I have lived in apartments my whole life. With these bad knees Don’t think I would be able to keep up with things that go along with one. I would only move it 2x a year but still I think it will be to much for me. The $110,000.00 plus if i buy new would be a bad discussion if I hated it. I think it will be much cheaper to rent 2 places. Rent is still cheap in ND In summer months , Nevada or Utah or AZ In winter not so much. Thanks for all the GOOD feed back guys. MD

Good luck Marty, and know I paid $12k for our 10 yr old 35 ft camper and $16k for a 10 yr old Chevy 2500 with only 92k miles, 4x4, to pull it....$28k total and been living in it for 8 months.
Took me 2 years to find that truck deal.
and my knees need replacing nearly, too, but I put a pad down to kneel on to hook up septic pipe and raise rear jacks, front jack is electric and sweet...most folks don't realize electric jacks even exist.

A lot of people in my neck of the woods have no choice but to live in a RV, thanks to Hurricane Laura.

Monthly motel rates are cheap in some places. I have a friend that stays in Florida for a $1000. a month.
Another guy from here spent 3-4 months in a house in Laughlin, Nevada reasonable. He says they have burros on the golf course.

One of out neighbors has a friend living in a 21' pull behind. 5' away is an outdoor wood boiler stove piped in to the mobile. Looks cozy. Tight though
