I own a SawStop and originally looked at the technology when it first emerged. The saw features, beyond the brake mechanism lacked then, today- it's probably the best cabinet saw on the market, in my opinion. I own a Professional, 3hsp saw with a 52" T-Glide and love it, if you're not a hardcore woodworker, it's also available in a contractor size with the same safety feature. I've previously owned a Delta and Powermatic.

The saw shown is $5,000, mine was $4,000 and that's fairly comparable to a professional cabinet saw of that quality

I'd love to have a sawstop. Someday. Read an article some time ago where a surgeon was at a sawstop demo. They put the hotdog on a stick and swung it thru the blade like a baseball bat to try and get it cut as fast as possible. The surgeon said if it was a finger, you might need 2 stitches. I watch a lot of Katz-Moses videos, he recently released a video that he had a joiner accident and lost part of his thumb. I wonder if sawstop will branch out into other machinery? Stay safe in the shop.

I do too. He can be a bit annoying in some of his newer stuff (since he got all the big-name sponsors) but he has a lot of good information. I saw this sawStop one previously and the one about the router accident.

I think Sawstop makes four basic models with variations in the models.

Eh...wot?

If the brake deploys as a result of skin contact, Saw Stop will replace the brake mechanism for free. Also, if you're cutting any conductive materials or wood with a high moisture content- the saw has a bypass mode to prevent engaging the brake system.

My dad bought one after half cutting his middle finger off about 17 year ago wow doesn't seem like tht long ago but it was now that I think about it my 19 year old daughter was about 2 at the time

he had it fire once while it was turned off because he was cutting pressure treated wood it about destroys half the saw when it fires but they warranted it

the highschool in my home town also went to all saw stop saws.

Yup, if I had a business with employees, it would be a must have. I don't have the space or money for that though.. Also, I cut way to much wet stuff. Treated lumber and fresh rough cut. Not that it wouldn't come in handy but for what I do, I can't justify it at this point.
