I ordered from Baker Creek for the first time about mid December. The seeds would be going from southern MO to north AR. When I got the shipping notification that they had been sent out by DHL (delayed and hopelessly lost) I said a few choice words. True to form I just got a tracking update and they are in Jacksonville FL.

I looked into baker seeds, I am impressed. I think I’ll be placing an order with them very soon

Liked their heirloom varieties too. Ordered once, got some bad product and was a nightmare dealing with their customer service. Best I could do is a credit but thier shipping took care of most of that. Will NOT be ordering from them again.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Consider true breeding heirlooms and read up on isolation distances to raise true seed so you can start saving seed to avoid not being able to get seed.

Warrior, I definitely have plans to do just that when I find the varieties of plants I like. That’s why I don’t mind paying a premium up front for the right seeds. I’m not going to be growing just for my own garden, I’m starting a small scale nursery. The best nursery our town has is Walmart lol, I’m tired of driving two hours to get a decent plant selection and I feel like a lot of gardeners in town feel the same. I think there’s a niche here for a good nursery, so I intend to fill it.

I receive several seed catalogs every year. I have ordered my seeds from Jungs for the last 45 years. I was in college as an undergrad with the present president of the company. I do buy several of my plants at nearby places. I have have switched to a place that I had no wilt or virus issues with last year. I do the same protocol every year with fungicides and usually have issues but this one place I had none and the plants seemed far more vigorous as well.
I will order sooner than in the past and have been looking for pint freezer bags and jar lids. I am close to being stocked up. Looks like we will be seeing a lot more gardens again and freezers will be in short supply again too.
