They are making biodegradable plastics that decompose within 3 or 4 Months in the ground or in the water. Looks like they have a lot of Patents on their products.

Don't know about that one but I looked at biodegradable plastic mulches and found that while all that I looked at do biodegrade they all still use a small amount of petrochemicals in their formula. I'm not sure if there's been a true 100% organic plastic developed yet.

They are rather new but they have partnered with pepsi and a few others.

Interesting concept. I wonder how expensive the product is to produce ? I suspect that would be the biggest hurdle..

They've been around for over ten years as a private company but just went public recently

Not really interested in drinking a pepsi that has already started to decompose the inside of its bottle.

They've had the packing "peanuts" that dissolve when hit with water for quite a while.

grin

That's a good point but this stuff uses canola oil as the raw material so it's a bit more renewable than pulp wood on the time scale

Lots of insider buying recently is always a good sign.

GDNP Is another similar company. Been a great performer these last few months

There have already been some corn starch-based plastics out there. Yeah, don't know if I want to use such stuff on food or drink that directly touched this stuff and then went inside of me. I think at least some major plastics out there already break down much faster than what we were told by the greenies years ago. I think you put out #1 or #2s, especially #2 plastic in direct sunlight for say a couple f years, and they basically crumble into little bits. Stuff like that may not decompose at the molecular level but as the viable/space using level, yes, it doesn't take "a thousand years" to break down.

They may use a type of starch to make a biodegradable plastic. Already used in the beer industry for six-pack rings.
