Anyone here graft or buy grafted tomato plants? I get the benefits of it but I'd it really worth the extra time or expenses to do it? Makes sense for trees and other perennials but not annuals from a market or home use perspect. Maybe for competition or coolness factor.

I tried last year but had zero success. The first bunch I did I thought it was going to be easy. They looked good for about five days then kaput. Same with my other attempts.
I watched several videos but I wasn't doing something right. I got the clips. Just need to order some more rootstock seed and I can try again. Actually I've thought about just using the same kind of tomato from seeds I've saved just to try to get the process learned. Those rootstock seeds are kind of expensive to keep losing them all.
Poor people have poor ways.

It seems like more trouble than it’s worth. Like warrior said, with the hundreds of different cultivars out there, there has to be one that will grow well for you.
there are a ton of ways to improve tomato success without grafting. Soil prep for one. Almost every gardener I know does soil prep all wrong. Polyculture planting for two. Over fertilizing/under fertilizing/ wrong fertilizing are often the culprit of bad luck with tomatoes. Pest control done wrong too. Getting water on the leaves hurts em too.
If you fix all those things and still can’t get good results, then maybe it’s time to start thinking about grafts.
