I'm waiting to see an answer. I have a 220 with a broken spring eye, and some old, weak 110's. To change springs does one drill out the rivet to remove the old spring and install new? What is the best screw type to replace the rivet when re-assembling? Round head machine?

Drilling out the rivet will NOT get the spring off the body grip trap. You have to open the spring eye to get it off the trap.

put the end of the spring eye in your bench vise and twist a tad

1) The 160 spring eye will be to large to work effectively on a 110 frame.

2) Take a look at your project trap. How would removing a frame rivet help in removing your springs?

3) removing a BG spring. Place the spring in a vice. You want to capture part of the spring arm and closed end of the spring eye. Twist the open end of the spring eye to about a 45 degree angle in relationship to the arm. Repeat on other spring eye. Remove your old spring, replace with a new one and close the spring eyes.

4) It is usually more cost effective to buy good used body-grip's than to replace springs

5) Replacing large BG springs is not for the weak of heart or those on blood thinners
