Was wondering what your favorite trap was for bobcats and your set up if you don't mind?

Bruce,
We're off to use more of both of these at a ranch north of Freer, TX starting tomorrow.

I use the MB550OS 2-coil on all cats, and I use waxed dirt if need be.
My favorite set is a walk through where I throw the kitchen sink at them, because all cats are valuable and I don't care to miss them.
Bait - lure - turds - urine - visual are all in the mix.

Blessings,
Mark

Is there anything wrong with regular full closure cast jaw 550's?

Same as Mark here. Offset jaws as required. My wife uses the 450 offsets and they do a good job also.

Bruce, we use 99% drags, so our chain length is close to 9’. When I do stake, I’ll attach between 18” and 5’, depending on the situation.

Thanks.Never even dawned on me to use drags as they are now outlawed here in northern Maine. Will have to check regulations in Kansas where I want to trap.

I enjoy the “thrill of the Hunt” that the drag provides. Small fun lines only !! Sometimes too time consuming for production lines like Mark is running.

To my knowledge, nothing here says you can't. Although, if your trapped animal goes into another property, that landowner can keep you out. It is your right to pursue your catch, but their right supersedes yours.

x2 on the drags- to simplify those walkthru sets Mark uses a lot of guys like me will also use modified DLS traps exposed with the drag as waxed dirt is no longer needed. While I use different gear I do agree with Mark Junes 'throw the kitchen sink at them' approach. I want cats to have a multitude of reasons to step on my pan.

I also like shock springs (this is me getting Mark "Mister 7 cats in a day" riled up!

I think that the MB550 OS is about as good as they come. I have 3 dozen purchased over the last couple of years.

Usually on about 12" of chain and 2 swivels. And earth anchored in about 18" usually.

I picked up 21 of them this year.(all they had in stock.) I'm really liking them. Thay are much easier on feet than my bridger #2dogless. But the bridgers do sit lower and bed just a little easier. Or maybe I just have more experience with them so it seems that way?
