Looks like an "enterolith" . Sort of like a pearl from a horse's guts. Made up of magnesium, phosphorus, ammonium, and other minerals.

I dimly remember some news about these round rocks being mineral remnants of a dinosaur gizzard. Just like chickens or other birds dinosaurs would swallow rocks to help break down food in their gizzards and over the many years be wore down to speres.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Possibly an antique ivory billiard ball? If there was a factory or company around there, it may have had a billiard table for the workers to use. Just a thought. Looks awfully smooth.
