Is the meat dark red when you peel off the skin?

Our "jackrabbits" are hares and have dark red meat. Cottontail rabbits have chicken colored meat. Do you all have real rabbits up there besides those snowshoe things...?

Sweet. Congrats to you and the boys. I'm thinking about putting out some snsrs for small game with the boys. Not for rabbits we have very few. But maybe try a leaning stick with for squirrels. I need to order some small snairs. What do you like?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! The boys can’t wait to check the snares again tomorrow.

The meat is coloured the same as the one in the video Bruce posted. Not dark red.

Well, sounds like you guys are lucky. I could eat jackrabbit again and on a regular basis, if I was hungry enough...

We use brass wire that I buy from Canadian Tire. I think it’s 22 gauge. Not 100% sure on that though.

I never snared squirrels before but I’m pretty sure you need thinner wire. Maybe Northof50 will comment what to use. He’s the squirrelchaser!

Hopefully you guys can catch a couple! We have ALOT of rabbits here.

Yeah, we don't. A few years ago we'd see them all the time, a couple years ago we'd see them at night...now we only see sign that they're here. I'm hoping they do good, cause we've never tried sharing rabbits, but we will, if there's enough to do so! Thanks

Great pics and thread JP, it brings back fond memories.
Any squirrels around? I remember snare poles being very popular for squirrels with my boys when they were younger too.

Well they caught 1 more today! We didn’t get any more snares set so I doubt they’ll have any tomorrow. I think they caught the ones running around in this bush.
But, we’ll see in the morning!
