Only time something like that happened to me, it was on a 029. a part of the muffler had broken off and was in the engine. Long shot... Interesting you say that I have heard a little rattle in my muffler

Pull the side cases and see if engine turns. Muffler screen plugged I'd check next.

Pop off the jug and see what damage is done if the crank is not involved it should be savable. Get the gaskets new parts and put it back together.

I was running my son's near new Husqvarna see feral years ago, and after shutting it off, as I went to,lay it down, it tipped over on its side and I heard a "clunk". After gasising it up, I went to start it and it was froze up.
We pulled the head and slipped the cylinder off and found out the the wrist pin has slipped into one of the ports....... NO WRIST PIN CLIP INSTALLED.
Cylinder perfect, no piston damage, and that saw's piston just stopped at the perfect place that when the saw tipped slide ways, the wrist pin slipped into the port. What are the chances of that?
My son took the saw to,the dealer and Husqvarna replaced the piston/cylinder/wrist pin/clip assembly. No recall, but they were aware of the issues with certain models.
If it died running and no noise,,I would check, the head gasket.

Pull the rope mechanism and look around the coil and flywheel. Had a coil bolt back out and hang in the flywheel once

Lots of used parts on eBay to rebuild a saw.
