Fur Harvesters shows that 40 and up is a 2X. What's the biggest otter you've seen?

The one I got so far this season was 46 1/2, it was a big one for here.

Flipper 56, I just started trapping otter as in I've never trapped otter. I caught one today that measured 49 and of course it'll be a lot smaller once it dries but I didn't know if that was big or just normal.

Mine was in a slide in the Black River. Lots of ice piling up and I could not see all of him when I first looked, and cussed because I though a rat had gotten into my 330. He just kept coming out of the ice!

While coyote hunting just before dark in the same area I saw one that was easily bigger. Never got him.

330 Trapper, this one goes about 5'06 but does not have near the girth that yours does.

Are we talking about carcass measurements, dried, or what? I’ve put otter on the board that stretched 48” to the butt, but with a pleated tail not a huge tip to tip length. Any otter over 30 lbs is a semi monster sized otter.

Measuring from nose to tip of tail tells me very little. Some otters have shorter fatter tails but are hogs. Either weight or nose to skirt is meaningful.

The biggest river otters generally come from coastal Alaska where they commonly go 48" and over at the skirt. Certainly diet has a lot to do with it. Otters that are eating crabs and salmon tend to get huge.

The biggest otter I ever caught went 31 lbs. Anything over 25 lb is a dandy.

Mine Was Nose to tail tip.

Taxidermist didn't want him, said too hard ,he'd have to make a form.
I sold him at the Mn. Winter meeting 6-7 years back off year for otter that year too.

My 46 1/2 was right out of the trap on the tailgate of the truck, they are a whole lot longer on the board.
