You are making my mouth water. I love oysters raw or cooked. Oyster stew is our family tradition every Christmas, wish we had it more often.

NY Bluepoint Oysters are some of the best you can get. They shouldn't be to hard to get up there?

I have 3 friends that have oyster farms 1/4 mile from where I'm sitting, lol, hardly ever eat the darn things, but that church key trick is great, never saw that before, I did see an oyster knife stuck in my hand once....

Salt and Pepper to taste

Warm slow till butter is melted, then its ready. Be carful not to burn or scald.

I gave Sharon my recipe for O'ster & Crab stew a few years back. She did a great job and presentation with cornbread! NICE! This is her pic she sent to me.

Here's my recipe :

1 gallon of fresh shucked oysters (about 4 QTS.)
2 LB. of Blue Claw Crab Meat
1 LB. of cooked and chopped "Double Smoked" Bacon with drippings added
3 Gallons of Whole Milk
1 QT. of Heavy Cream
3/4 cup Worcester Sauce
3 Tbsp. of fresh cracked Black Pepper
3 Tbsp. of Old Bay Seasoning
3 Tbsp. of Cayenne pepper
2 Tsp. of Celery Seed
3 Sticks of REAL BUTTER

Cook oysters separately with their liquor until edges curl. DO NOT OVER COOK! Heat milk and cream and add all other ingredients. Add oysters and simmer for 5 minutes.

You can + / - the seasonings according to your individual taste
