Yes it will drop your average, but it's still a $40 to $50 coyote, pays for some gas,i sold mine last week and had at least 5 that were eastern dark brilo pad coyotes knocked my average down to $62,$35 was low $90 was high i was happy with the price's.Not the $92 average from last year, prices and grade's are tougher this year and i had a better run of yotes last year as well. Nice prices.

I had a marten that a fisher had eaten from just above the front shoulders that I sold along with my other marten. It was one of the few fur auctions I have ever been to.Sold right along with the rest and didn't loose anything.

Definitely take it to the auction. It will probably grade damage but still plenty of useable fur there.
How many coyotes do you have? What do the rest of them look like? If you’ve got an overall really nice lot of coyotes, I would throw it in with the rest and not worry about it. One bad coyote in a group of 100 or so, isn’t going to hurt the overall average and will most likely be overlooked by the buyer. I’m not saying the buyer won’t see the problem but he will ignore it because of the other 99 that are really nice.
Now, if you have say only 12 coyotes and that is one of them. Different matter - it will stick out like a sore them.
Good Luck. Hope you do well at the sale. Yeah this one made #14. So it's going to stand out.

How are you with a needle and thread ? I'd cut out the bad spot in a football shape and stitch it up maybe it'll help maybe not but if it does the effort maybe worth some extra money in your pocket .

I let it dry to much to sew it back. Never even knew this spot existed till after I flipped it and was combing it. Noticed a few guard hairs coming loose, so I pulled a little to investigate and a big chunk came out. The coyote in the field was a little bloated, minimal green belly and I pulled hard in the crotch/stomach and the back of the neck before skinning. Nothing came out so I thought I was good.

I'll bet that is still a 50.00+$ coyote.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
